Sessions

One link clients book from, for every session you offer.

A session is anything clients can book you for. Leave it ongoing and clients can book any time you're open. Give it dates and it becomes a day split into short times people book for themselves. It's the same page and the same link, and each booking carries through to the gallery.

Tellisto is built so two people can't book the same time. It doesn't rely on catching it afterwards.

What's inside

Live now, and included on every plan.

  • There are two kinds of session. Ongoing sessions let clients book any open time in your hours. Dated sessions split a day into short back-to-back times.
  • Every session gets its own page under your studio's name, with your image at the top, your words and your price.
  • Your own /book address always lists whatever is open right now. It updates as sessions open and close, so the link in your bio stays right without you touching it. Drag your sessions into the order you sell them, and the page follows.
  • Every spot someone takes becomes a real booking with a real client record, not a row in a spreadsheet you have to match up later.
  • Each booking gets its shoot checklist automatically, the same as any other shoot in your calendar.
  • Take a deposit as a flat amount or a percentage of the price. Booking holds the spot straight away, and the invoice follows by email with your branding and its own pay link.
  • Confirm bookings instantly, or approve each one yourself. A mini day can fill without you, while a wedding enquiry waits for your yes.
  • Set a maximum number of bookings on a dated session, block out your breaks, and set how much notice you need and how far ahead people can book.
  • Pick up to four photos from your own galleries to show on the session page, so clients see your work instead of a stock photo.
  • Attach a form and clients answer the questions you'd otherwise chase by email while they book: the address, who's in the shot, what they're hoping for. The answers are on the booking when you prepare for the shoot.

How it runs your week

What it changes about an ordinary week.

The booking tool and the gallery tool are the same tool

With most setups, taking the booking and delivering the photos happen in two products, with two logins and copying and pasting between them. In Tellisto the session, the booking, the client and the gallery are all connected. Someone books a time on Saturday. By Thursday you're delivering to a client record that has existed since they booked, with the deposit recorded and the checklist half ticked.

Double bookings are blocked by the database

Two people opening your link at the same second and choosing the same 2:15 isn't rare. It happens on an ordinary Tuesday. When the second person submits, the database refuses the overlap. They're told the time has just gone, and the page refreshes to show what's left. You don't get a warning you might miss, or a clash you find the morning of the shoot. The overlap can't be recorded in the first place.

Breaks you actually get to take

Block out the hour you need to eat and nobody can book it. Clients don't see it, can't request it, and can't end up in it by accident. The gap you set between sessions works the same way. On an ongoing session, so does your setup and packdown time. Clients see the shoot time, and your calendar blocks the whole span.

A full session can still take names

Turn on the waitlist, and people who find a session full can leave their name and the times they'd like instead of closing the tab. When someone cancels, Tellisto checks the freed time against the waitlist, oldest first. It then drafts an email to that person with a booking link in it. You read it and press send. It only sends automatically if you choose to turn that on.

Frequently asked questions

Questions photographers ask

What does my client see?

Your page, in your studio's colours, on your own domain if you've set one up. They see your image at the top, your description, the price, and the times that are still free. They pick one and leave their name, email, phone and a note if they want to. There's no account, login or app to download. Then they get a confirmation email in your branding with the time, an add-to-calendar file, and the deposit invoice if the session has one. If they paste the link into a message, the preview card shows your image too, not a blank box.

Do I have to pick dates?

No. That's why there are two kinds of session. An ongoing session has no dates at all. It uses the weekly hours you already keep, or its own hours if this shoot runs at different times, and it stays open until you close it. A dated session is for a single day you split into short times, like a spring mini day or a one-off event. You choose which kind when you create it, and you can see the times it will offer before anyone else does.

Can two clients book the same time?

No, and it doesn't depend on luck or quick checking. The rule against overlaps is built into the database, so a second booking for the same time can't be saved, even if both people submit at the same instant. The person who submitted second is told the time has just been taken and shown what's still open. The same rule protects the rest of your calendar.

Is the deposit charged at the moment they book?

Not yet. Booking holds the spot, and the confirmation includes a deposit invoice they can pay from your branded pay page. So the booking is real from the moment they submit, whether or not the money has cleared. Charging the card during booking is planned but not built yet.

Can I ask clients questions when they book?

Yes. Build a form once and attach it to the session. Clients then answer the things you'd otherwise chase over three emails while they book: the address, who's coming, what they're wearing, whatever you need to turn up prepared. You choose when they see the form. It can appear during booking before they pay, on the confirmation screen straight after, or in a later email with a reminder a set number of days before the shoot. The answers are saved on the booking and the client record, where you already look when you prepare. You don't have to go looking for them in a separate pile of form results.

What happens when a session sells out?

A dated session shows an accurate count of spots left as it fills, and stops taking bookings at the maximum you set. After that, if you've turned the waitlist on, the page offers people a place on the waitlist instead of turning them away. When someone cancels, Tellisto drafts an email with a booking link for the next person. It waits on your waitlist page for you to read and send. Nothing goes to a client without you unless you've turned on automatic sending yourself.

Can I run the same day again next season?

Duplicate it. Everything copies across, including hours, slot length, price and deposit, and you set the new dates on the copy. The original doesn't change, and its bookings stay where they are.

I already had mini-session days or session types set up. What happened to them?

They became sessions, and we moved them across for you before the change went live. Anything you'd already shared keeps working. An old link forwards to the new page, so nothing you posted stops working. We replaced the two separate features with one because they were always the same idea under two names.

How is a session different from a package?

A package is what you sell: the inclusions and the price. A session is how clients book you: when you're available, how long it runs, the deposit rule, and whether you approve each booking. When you set up a session, you can copy a package's price and inclusions onto it in one step. Changing them on the session never changes the package.

Where do I start?

The step-by-step guide to sessions covers everything: creating one, making it yours, sharing the link, and what to do when it fills. It takes about thirteen minutes in total, and you end up with a real session you can keep.
