Switching
A Pic-Time alternative with the studio back office included.
Pic-Time is a gallery and a store, and a very good one. It doesn’t run the rest of your business. That’s why their own pricing page gives paid subscribers a free year of somebody else’s CRM. This page compares the two, including the parts where Pic-Time is the better product.
Nothing here asks you to cancel anything. Bring one shoot and see.
What Pic-Time covers
Their pricing page makes the argument for us.
Look at Pic-Time’s own plan comparison and find the row called Studio Management Integrations. Every paid tier offers the same thing: a free year of Studio Ninja. So Pic-Time’s own pricing page tells you the studio side is not theirs, and you will be running it somewhere else.
The facts box
Checked against Pic-Time’s pricing page on 31 August 2026, for individual photographers, in US dollars. Four tiers: a free plan with 10 GB of photo storage that their page notes is “reduced to 3GB after 3 months”, then $7, $21 and $42 a month billed annually, or $8, $25 and $50 monthly. The top tier is unlimited photo storage with terms attached. Extra brands are $6 a month each. Every plan carries unlimited galleries, a mobile app, a portfolio page and 24/7 support.
Tellisto is one product on one bill. The galleries and the whole studio back-office are the same app. There’s a free plan, and zero commission on every plan. Prices are in Australian dollarsNew Zealand dollars, and the local tax paperwork is built in from the start. Their numbers can change any time, so check their pricing page for the current ones.
Where they do better
Where Pic-Time is the better product.
Pic-Time does several things Tellisto does not do at all. If any of them is central to how you work, you should stay.
- The print store. Thirty-plus global labs, automatic fulfilment, an album builder. Tellisto has no print store. If selling through the gallery is how you make your money, that settles it, and the rest of this page matters much less.
- Video delivery. They host and deliver it, with storage on every tier. Tellisto does not host video.
- Slideshows, blogs and the album designer. None of these exist in Tellisto. Their album designer in particular does work you would otherwise spend an evening on.
- Smart search. Face, keyword and selfie search for clients. Tellisto has nothing comparable, and for a large event gallery it is useful, not a gimmick.
- Reach and scale. They serve photographers worldwide and have agency pricing. Tellisto is built for Australia and New Zealand and for one photographer per account.
Where Tellisto fits
The half Pic-Time leaves to someone else.
- The enquiry, before there is a gallery. A branded form on your own site, an instant reply in your words, and a pipeline that shows you who is waiting on you.
- The booking and the money. Quotes, deposits, payment plans, contracts signed online under your studio's brand, and GST-correct tax invoices for Australia and New Zealand. It’s more than a generic tax field. In Australia your ABN is checked against the register. In New Zealand, invoices charge 15% and show your IRD number.
- The gallery, under your name. It’s white-label on every plan including free, and it sits on your own studio address. You get layout presets, proofing, and client selections that copy straight into Lightroom. There’s no inactivity clock on any of it.
- The part that pays you afterwards. When a client keeps their gallery through the Client Vault, they pay for that storage and it comes off your allowance. On Pro you earn a share of every renewal for as long as the gallery is kept.
- One record, not an integration. The enquiry, the booking, the invoice and the gallery all belong to the same client record. There’s nothing to sync, because it’s all one app.

This page helps you choose. The guide covers the move itself. It lists which exports to pull out of Pic-Time, in what order, and what has no export button at all. It also shows how to set up your live work in Tellisto before you cancel anything.

Frequently asked questions
Questions about switching from Pic-Time
Is Tellisto trying to replace Pic-Time?
For the delivery and the studio side, yes. For the print store, no. Pic-Time's store, with its global labs and automatic fulfilment, is a real product and Tellisto has nothing like it. If selling prints through the gallery is how you make your money, settle that question first.
What does Tellisto do that Pic-Time doesn't?
It runs the studio side itself, instead of bundling someone else's subscription. Leads, clients, bookings, quotes, contracts and GST-correct tax invoices all link to the same client record as the gallery. Pic-Time's own pricing page gives paid plans a free year of Studio Ninja. That's a fair sign the studio side isn't theirs.
What about my galleries and my storage?
Free gives you 20 GB and two live galleries at a time. Pro gives you 1 TB and unlimited live galleries. Galleries don't expire and there's no inactivity clock, on any plan. When a client chooses to keep a gallery through the Client Vault, they pay for that storage and it stops counting against yours. On Pro you also earn a share of every renewal.
I'm in Australia. Does that change anything?
The paperwork, mostly. Pic-Time bills in US dollars and is built for a global market. Tellisto handles Australian and New Zealand GST properly. In Australia it rounds GST the way the ATO specifies and checks your ABN against the register. In New Zealand it charges 15% and shows your IRD number. PayID and bank transfer are built in as proper ways to get paid, not an afterthought behind card.
Can I run both?
Yes, and plenty of people should. On the free plan, Tellisto costs nothing to try alongside what you have. Run the enquiry, the booking and the invoice through Tellisto, and keep delivering and selling through Pic-Time. After a few months you'll know which half you'd rather keep.
What does it cost?
One bill. There's a free plan with 20 GB and two live galleries, or Pro at $79 a month with 1 TB and unlimited live galleries. Zero commission on every plan. The pricing page has the detail, including how the Client Vault pays you a share.
